    Might be hard to tell from the photos but I've never seen a half dollar that looks like this, its the one in the middle, has a completely different feel to it, its in pretty good shape, I know most coins that have a missing clad layer are almost red but I've seen some that don't have that aspect. Id love some input!

    Please post a clearer photo of both sides of the coin and the edge of the coin. It's hard for me to comment on the coin in question because all three look the same. None of them seem to have a missing layer.

    The Mint must have used white copper.

    New pics, the first is the coin in question, the obverse of the coin looks just like the others, but the front looks much different, third pic is the obverse. is like its lacking a finish, it has a completely different texture.

    Hi Stephen, I don't see any missing layers. What little difference I see in the " look " of the obverse could simply be that "something" got on the coin. That would be called environmental damage or ENVIRO DAM ! lol. We like to " coin " phrases around here. lol

    Thanks for posting Stephen. Keep 'em comin' !

    Stephen, I'm not trying to nitpick, but the obverse is the front of the coin.

    Obverse = Heads = Front

    Reverse = Tails = Back

    Just thought you'd like to know!

    To help understand a missing clad layer think of an oreo cookie missing the cracker on one side. The side that was missing would be white(copper/brown) because all you would see is the cream inside.
