physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

In that case, use the search feature and read the past threads (some of them hundreds of pages long). Decide for yourself.

Nobody wants to rehash this subject.

Nobody said you have to "buy" into it.

No, he doesn't "just make fake coins". Instead, he alters real ones...just like a love token or hobo nickel.

That isn't all he does. Since OP is on his site he can see that the Fantasy Date Overstrike section is only one several sections that shows what he makes. I sense tunnel vision is keeping him from visiting those though.[IMG]

Dan Carr is also the designer of the 2001 Rhode Island and 2001 New York State Quarters. I never see anyone add that in on these threads.

To the tune of 2 billion US Quarters minted. Let’s see someone else on these forums make a (true) boast like that.

I hadn’t realized the use of CNC machines to actually do the engraving while utilizing modern technology to exactingly copying the work of others makes one a “master engraver”.

I’ve long admired the work of the Dutch Masters, but never possessed the talent to do much more than scribble. It warms my heart to now know that I too can be considered a “master” by simply using the equivalent, which in my case would be a scanner and printer.

Please, from now on refer to me as Johannas...

Now , Now Johannas Books, It was said in one of the threads that he changed the font in one instance ( on the date?) on the dollar round, and that made it different enough to be his own design, so you would have to do something similar to qualify as a 'true' master. Add an extra button to the coat or such.
Once the Chinese counterfeiters realize there is greater profit in a fake restrike or whatever it would be ( as the US Government doesn't seem to care), they can change a single font and do the same thing. " May we live in interesting times" Jim

He makes coins/tokens that can be perceived as counterfeit by being slightly outside the strict legal definition.

If you use your own loose definition, then it IS counterfeiting.
If you use the strict legal definition, then it is NOT counterfeiting.
Luckily, for him, he has to abide by the strict legal definition.

Think of ppl, groups, organizations (kids to adults) that use stamps, or engrave stuff on coins ... that may fit in the loose definition too.

This has yet to be established conclusively. Lack of prosecution is meaningless as prosecutors lack the resources to go after everyone.

I don’t know about that as to the best of my knowledge this has yet to see the inside of a courtroom. Additionally, if one takes the time to read the laws in question and as written, his innocence is nowhere near as clear as many like to suggest.
