    Nice coin @Collecting Nut :)
Proof coins are difficult to grade even with good photos (and your photos made it even more of a challenge :p), so that’s why you’re seeing the range of guesses.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Thing is, nobody can accurately grade proofs from photographs. Even if robec, rmpsrpms, or messydesk took the photographs, they cannot capture all of the subtleties of a proof coin, including hairlines, marks, luster, strike, mirrors, etc., in a single picture.

I'd argue that those three are the best photographers on cointalk. They take amazing pictures over a wide range of coin series (jtlee is a close runner up, but he specializes in Morgans). If I can't consistently and accurately grade from their amazing pictures, ain't nobody going to be able to accurately grade from the incredibly out of focus pictures shown here. I can barely identify the coin as a Lincoln cent, not to mention grade it.

I think Larry's point here is, what difference does it make, with pictures like these?

And I said that in my next post.
Sometimes things can be said in an encouraging manner and not in a sarcastic way.

I get that way when people post crap images and ask others to grade the coin.
Why bother? The results are going to be worthless.

That’s fair and if you feel that way, then it’s easy to just close the thread and move on.

There is a difference between being "grumpy" and being realistic. When people post awful photos and ask for grades, and we tell them that their photos are unsatisfactory, that's not being grumpy. That's telling them truth. Some people might have a hard time with this - adults should understand that not every click of their camera-phone is going to produce a Da Vinci. They have to exert some effort to make pictures that are useful - if they post pictures that are useless, then why even bother posting? Being "nice" to people isn't going to help them grade their coin, and it isn't going to help them improve their pictures. They have to understand reality.

If I ask them to try again with their pictures, I'm really trying to help them. They asked for our opinion, they provided bad pictures. I want to help them, but to do that, I need better pictures. Anyone who posts here more than once should know that, and the OP has been posting here long enough to know two things. First, I'm a bit of a "donkey". Sorry, I'm blunt. It happens. Second, if you want good grade guesses, you need good pictures.

If this were a first time poster, I probably would have phrased things differently. This poster has been here long enough to know that those blurry things were totally useless for grading, and should have tried harder. He's been here for 3.5 years and has 9k+ posts.

@Collecting Nut , can you honestly tell us that you think these pictures were good enough to grade from?

In summary @ddddd , if you post a worthless picture and ask for grades, you are going to get worthless grade guesses. And I'm going to tell you honestly what I think.

Guess I pissed you off the other day. My post are honest. I won't reply to your threads any longer. I'll just move on.

That's fair and the OP should have known that better photos were needed (or that proof coins are bad for GTGs). Interestingly enough though no one directly asked "can you take better photos."

I asked you a question and you never replied? Is that considered pissing someone off? Whatever floats your boat. :p
    Have a good one! :)

I guess all of these aren't enough clues that the pictures are bad?

The OP was the first one to mention that statement about better photos (so it seems that the clues were understood).

And I agree the first two posts (by inspector and you) were good enough clues. All I'm saying is that sometimes one just has to come out and say, "please take better photos; the current ones are too blurry". Yeah it's obvious to you and me but I've dealt with enough people where you have to spell it out or there will be no results.

Sorry but so did the best I could at the time. I'm excited about my new coin and wanted to share it with my CT friends. I thought s GTG would be a fun way to do that. I apologize if I upset you.

If everyone had read and taken to heart my opening paragraph you would have been more understanding. I'm trying to learn this cell phone photos business for up close pictures but the only way to do so is try. In the last week I have been working at this so he's another photo I took a short time ago. Hopefully it will be an improvement but I won't know until I try. And yes, I've mentioned the lighting. The coin is so reflective along with the slab and my inexperience in this....
