Hi All I recently picked up a 7070 and hope for fill it with nice VF examples (until the few where that is prohibitively expensive) So far the coins in there were from the Whitman penny books I did with my grandpa, coins from my grandmas silver coin “hoard” and a few I got through trade. I thought this would be a fun challenge - I’m only going to buy coins with money from selling random stuff on eBay. For example: first buys - I thought it might be cool to have the modern coins as proofs (I know that defeats the purpose of having “clad” in some cases but my 7070, my rules) I sold a broken bracelet for 10$ and picked up these coins. I think this will be fun Proof dime and Nickle (2001 and 2003) and a proof 1976 bicentennial Kennedy
I wore out a 7070. I kept finding something nicer to replace a coin that I already had in the album. At some point I had too much money invested in the album and many of the coins needed a better holder for protection. Next, I started replacing the nice coins with lower grades. I had a blast working on the set.
Love the DCAM Jeff. I've always liked the series, stupid of me not to get into it. Anyway, why not take your "found cash" and hunt old proof sets for exceptional pieces, especially with colorful toning. That stuff brings good money. Crack out the Jeff (and any other colorful), sell the rest on eBay to recoup some cash. Wash, rinse, repeat. I did that back in the early 90's with cameo Franklins. Made a bucket load.
Best of luck! I’ve been working on this project and it’s loads of fun! There are many ways to go about filling the spots and it sounds like you have found a solid method!
It’s the code for the Dansco Type Set Album. This one: http://www.danscoalbumstore.com/type-major-coins-from-1800-dansco-album-7070-p-1994.html
