I have a 1944 D penny. It’s magnetic but th weight seems off at 3.7 grams. It is extra thick. I do not know much about coins. Coming here for help. What should I do.
Would plating give enough provide enough mental to be able to be picked up by an ordinary kitchen magnet?
There are many counterfeits on ebay, Amazon, Etsy, Alibaba and such. The rims look too wide but it is hard to tell much from so far away. Some close ups may help determine more. Knowing the source you acquired it from may give you insight as to the possibility of authenticity.
First, welcome to the neighborhood, Bryan! Yes, we need better enlargements of your coin. You need to (1) crop out all of the unnecessary background, then (2) resize the images before posting them to your thread. Be sure to use the "Full Image" option rather than the "Thumbnail". Chris
Looks like it was played and then put into a jewelry bezel. Will need better photos. I’d suggest weighing it, but that won’t help, due to extra metal.
Exactly what I was thinking. Being that it is in a bezel it certainly adorned a jewelry related item at some point. That gives me reason to think that if a jeweler needed the piece in a bezel, then he also had reason to plate the cent.
