This has to be one of the worst things they could have done. I used to use coinfacts almost daily. It is now useless. Good timing too, during FUN. Horrible choice.
No doubt this was an attempt at a cover up. Than the actual use of the photos. What a way to ruin a great reference.
CoinFacts app still works the same with zoomable images of everything... this is why I keep auto-update off.
How does that work? I would like to see a 1925-D red MS65 vs. MS65+ Lincoln so I can decide if I should resubmit mine for a + upgrade if it comes back 65. All I see is one 66 and two 65+
They removed the "view all images button" It was a great tool. This really sucks. At the PCGS lunch at Fun, Heather said that the diminished access to coin pictures on CoinFacts had to do with “privacy” issues, and was instituted by collector demand. There was no collector demand for this. It will be fixed at some point.
Seems like they redesigned the website a bit. I can still see most of the images but the "view all" button is gone.
There were obviously other reasons such as old Secure Plus scans being mixed in with TrueViews which caused people to be critical of the service/grade ect, but what people say in public vs what they privately request can often be very different things. While there may have been no/minimal forum poster demand there certainly were collectors who did request it
I'm pretty sure that having the same coin shown 20 times grading at MS65 14 times MS65+ 5 times and MS66 once had something to do with it. That was a fairly common occurrence. I wonder if the PCGS 1909VDB proof Lincoln that wasn't a proof had anything to do with it? That was somewhat of a public display of incompetence.
What I found you have to go into the archived auction results. There's a link, says "View all 36-S MS lots." Then it allows you to do an in depth look at coins from any grade to any grade. Or, just one grade. CAC or no CAC, All or remove ebay sales. It's actually quite in depth. Now that one can see all the photos associated. I could have missed it yesterday because the page was completely new to me, Or they reverted back or had the links built into the software for an easy fix. There is a whole lot more clicking involved which does suck and the search through the site just got harder no doubt, but it looks like it is all there.
No it doesn’t. There used to be two options for viewing, ValueView (which gave you the price guide and population of each grade and an “All Images” option which opened a gallery of images for the designated coin. Now only ValueView is available with the normal 3 photos. Before Now
You’re right. Bummer. I never tried the all images button so I didn’t notice that, that would have been a really cool feature...I thought that was just multiple images of the plate coin. I want it back without having tried it.
My response on the PCGS forum to the "collector demand" bit was simply to ask "which one?" Worst decision since New Coke.
