You should try the Grand Central Oyster Bar if you get a chance. Good eats. A bit pricey but it is NYC afterall.

 

I’ve been eyeing that.

 

Campbell Apartment in GCT has good.... scenery... drinks are pricey though.

 

OK, I was keeping the jealousy in check until that.

Will you tell them to host some shows around my location?

 

I'll be going to the Wilmington Coin Show next week Jan 17 thru 19th.
May head up to Pittsburgh in March for the national money show.
After that I'll just free base.
On the way back from the Wilmington show I'll stop at Deerhead Hot Dogs, they have some great dogs there.

 

That is correct. I think it's one of the smaller shows Dot Hendricks stages.

 

This one is in the Holshouser building, so it should (I hope) actually be one of the larger ones. I'm hoping Josh Bobbitt will be there, he's my favorite buyer for junk silver, and I think I'll have some to move this time.

The smaller ones in the Martin building are hardly worth the trip, only half a dozen or so dealers, and last time they didn't even have the Barber Shop guys to get books and supplies from.

Of course, the really big one is in June.

 

I've been to only one show in the tiny Martin building, and if I recall correctly that was due to a last minute scheduling conflict. If there's ever another, I'll make a point to avoid it.

Personally I find the Holshouser space a bit cramped too, and it's usually the same core group of dealers with pretty much the same merchandise, so I don't mind skipping that one occasionally.

You're right about the summer show, it's the one to circle on your calendar. It pulls a lot more dealers from distant locales . . . enough to hold my attention for the entire weekend.

 

Well, the bourse floor at NYINC is obviously honoring the prior Waldorf-Astoria location. REALLY tight aisles that are almost impossible to navigate if you’re carrying a bag. Ignorantly snug. Much high end material. Most dealers are international, not just the coins. Heavy on the medeival years. The number of collector level dealers is small, but the quality is stout. I found a few pieces for my upcoming exhibit. Unfortunately, I’ve been battling a mild stomach bug all weekend. But staying home was not an option. I was already on the train to here when it first appeared. The key is taking frequent breaks. A few more hours chasing British material today, then B&H photo, then Penn Station to take Amtrak back to Harrisburg.

Oh, I did attend FOUR seminars yesterday, and that WAS Job One for me, as always.
