This coin has a steel rim band, is it a true error or a fake? 20190107_145501.jpg

Reverse side, it has a steel rim band compressed on it and looks like someone was trying to take the rim off.

Is that a bezel with a chain loop?
What does the backside look like?

I can't tell! I thought it was but the more I looked at it looks like it's a tear where someone tried to remove it.
See pic in my second post. Reverse

Plated. You can see the copper under it.
Not a fake. A real penny that was plated and made into jewelry.
    Probably the person's birth year.

So this is probably just jewelry that someone had made.
I thought it might be too. I just wanted to check because I bought a complete notebook of coins several years ago at a estate sale. Was going through and noticed it so best to check with experts.

    Thanks

Every time I see one of those it has the same tear on the reverse where it got torn off of whatever it was on.
