1982 D the 8 took a hit at some point but so did the ENTIRE coin take hits over it's 36 years in circulation. @Dowell jerry L do you see all those hit on the Obverse. Look at each individual hits, scraps, mark, scratch, gouge on the obverse. You are not being very unbiased in your judgement of your coins. You want to see stuff that is NOT there.
the 9 took nearly the same identical type of hits. One hit up high, one low. The top of the 1 took a hit. Do not isolate one particular thing and ignore the rest. Look around it, learn more about everything that is going on of the entire surface.
