I have a hard time forming an opinion about the coin because the photos are small and I don't think the lighting is too good. Larger photos that show the coloring to better effect (meaning brighter but accurate) would help.
Well it says on the forum WHAT'S IT WORTH so I don't know what you are complaining about you don't need to be on this forum if your going to be like that. So stop wasting your time and go to a different forum where you can share all the knowledge that you have.
IMO, if a dealer asks questions about the value or attribution of a coin and then turns around and uses that info to sell the coin at a larger profit, shouldn't those providing the info get some of the profit? Especially if they appear to be using the forum members as their primary source of research? It's not too difficult to determine if a dealer is contributing to the forums and occasionally needs a little help (their are many of these people on the ancient page) and those that are just looking for you to do their work for them. I don't know the history of the OP and other members, so I won't comment specifically but I have encountered people who do this on various forums and will not help them. Hopefully, this will help you interpret the meaning behind the earlier posts
As others have stated, toning premiums very greatly. I collect toned coins. I've paid many different multiples. It all depends on the toning. For the coin you have posted, I would not pay a premium for that coin. I do not like the toning. That doesn't mean someone else won't. When it comes to buying toned coins, it's like buying art. We all have different tastes. I think the toning on your posted coin is very muted. Based on the pictures, I believe the coin is much darker than it appears. So for me, $0 premium. I wouldn't even want the coin. You can visit the "Post a toned Coin" thread to see many of the coins I own. Here are 4 very different examples. I paid big premiums for a few of them, and very little for the others. 1882 MS67 by JPeace$ posted Feb 7, 2018 at 8:31 PM 1878 8TF MS64 by JPeace$ posted Feb 7, 2018 at 8:31 PM 1878 7 over 8 MS62 by JPeace$ posted Feb 7, 2018 at 8:31 PM 1878 7 over 8 MS62 reverse by JPeace$ posted Feb 7, 2018 at 8:31 PM 1886 MS64 by JPeace$ posted Mar 15, 2018 at 6:37 PM
