Well, he actually got it in change spending his lunch money at school. Seventy years ago. He has since died of old age, so the coin is going up for sale.

I'm guessing it won't be the last. That "news" story is getting covered everywhere.

I think this is $150K max, and over priced at that considering condition.

The lot closes in a little over 6 hours and it's at $130K now. $1.7 million???? Look, the New York Post IS a clickbait website masquerading as a newspaper.

This particular article was obviously not written by anyone knowledgeable about the coins history. It starts in the first paragraph..."without ever knowing....". He knew he was on to something as soon as he found it and had knowledgeable people examine it right away. He knew it was valuable his entire life. He simply chose to hang on to it. Then "pressed into copper..." no, sorry, struck in copper. This article nearly copies the one published in other reports. I see a bit of Plagerism going on here besides stupidity. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Walter Breen was one of those who examined this coin.

It is almost a word-for-word copy of the FOX News website story.

I bet that in a short time soon we will be seeing dozens of new threads wanting to know if a person's Cent is a 1943 Copper!
All with damaged and altered dates or fakes from China!.. Also the Copper Plated Steelies!

Not just the Internet Kurt. TV, radio, newspaper, etc. all reporting the same thing as if it happened yesterday. As always the media is telling us what they want us to hear which is misleading.

Nothing political implied but I do miss the days of Walter Cronkite, Eric Severeid, Huntley & Brinkley, Bob Steele, Dan Rather and others. Whatever their affiliations, I would take them any day over todays trash and sound bites. JMHO.
