and im not impressed with them. they tone and stain EASY. the ones i have have fingerprints and spots on them and they're barely circulated. its like these things are magnets for dirt and stains or something.

well the missus has to go to the bank soon and i might go with her and see if they have a fresh roll of them or something.

then i might trade these uglies in for a fresh roll and keep the fresh ones in my collection. or i just wont bother and put all these towards the purchase of a walker and have something really worth keeping.

I posted about them a few days ago,, I agree 100% with you Smokemonkey The mint really got sloppy with these coins. I dont think i will be keeping the 11 rolls i bought.

i hope you didnt buy them for a cent over face value. if so, i feel bad for you. they are not worthing buying at a premium.

im sorely disappointed in these coins. no wonder people dont like dollar coins, they cant seem to make one worth spending let alone collecting.

    worse than the sacs IMO.

There certainly are a lot of problems. The business strike coins are pretty awful, but the satin-finish uncircs are much nicer and the proofs are really nice. There's a quality control problem with proofs, also. I've sent back about half of the sets I received, but when you get a good one, they really look nice.

how do these age if you handle them w/ white gloves and just let them sit in the fancy box that houses four rolls of the $25.00 roll if it's stored in a temperature controlled environment?

Will I have any problems with discoloration if they are not handled and just put away in storage?

These are the uncirculated rolls I've been buying from the U.S. Mint.

Only time will tell. I've unwrapped all of the rolls I've gotten from the bank and put them into coin tubes. So far, they haven't discolored. I'm keeping the mint-wrapped rolls intact, but I'm not buying any more of them. I just don't think it's worth the 50% premium.

    LOL !!

I hate to go off topic, but has anyone seen this thread abbreviated when it has been the most recent post in the US Coin forum ?

It is abbreviated as " I finally got some..".

Well as long as you put them away before they get circulated, they're fine. I get mine from the machine at the Denver Mint gift shop. Easy way to get as many as I could possibly want for not a cent over face value. Every time a new one comes out, I usually get about a roll's worth, look for one that is mostly scrath and dent free, put it in my Dansco... my parents and gradfather usually want a few (my Dad collects these too) then whatever's left I just spend.

I also incidentally get a set of these in proof when I buy my proof set every year.

As for what they look like when they circulate... well don't look any worse than the Sacagaweas anyway.
