4 banks tonight had a total of $400 mwr halves, $100 cwr halves, and $1.50 loose. The loose had 1, ‘64 with glue on the back. When the teller placed it on the counter she complained it was ugly. I heard the “ting” of silver and without looking at it told her I thought it was beautiful

I’ll report on the other rolls after I search them.

I used to get the brownish gold, now the yellow. Always Loomis though. Thanks for your information. Boxes in my area just must gernally suck. (despite yesterdays success) I have one more waiting. I'll open it today and report back.

Speaking of NF String wrappers if have noticed that I have NEVER pulled a silver dime from an NF String wrapper in a Loomis box but have pulled hundreds from actual Loomis wrappers....I wonder why that is?

Usually Yes, because usually I'm in a hurry on lunch break...if I have more time, then no.

Just a field report: I have a handful of tellers that are great and try to look out for things for me...but I'm finding that tellers around here switch out a lot so by the time a develop a relationship with one, he/she moves on to...somewhere else... Anyway... I'm noticing more and more of the newer tellers are jerks when it comes to halves. They won't even ask around to the other tellers and they speak with an unfriendly tone.
Example...I asked one of the new tellers at a bank that used to be one of my favorites if THEY had any halves meaning ANYONE. He said no without even checking....the one nice teller overheard and brought one down to give to him to give to me. He said "Give it to him...not to me." again in a grouchy tone.

    WHAT GIVES!?

I think perhaps they don't understand the coin collector hobby part of CRH and just view us as PITA customers who are not making deposits, cashing checks, or making other normal transactions. Perhaps they just view us as silver searchers. I did have a very sweet mannered young lady brand new teller sell me a box of halves yesterday. As she was debiting my account to pay for the box, she said, "May I ask you a personal question?" I said, "Sure". "What do you do with all these halves?" I told her I am building coin albums for my grandkids. I have already finished Kennedy albums for my kids and am now working on the 4 grandkids." She smiled and said, "That's so sweet!" It is the truth. I am constantly looking for errors (1974-D DDO, 1972-D "No FG", 1982-P "No FG", die cracks) as well as NIFCs (proofs, 1987-P&D, 2002+). If a see a really nice AU or BU coin, I upgrade my duplicate tubes for the day when I actually load the grandkids albums with the best coins. Finding silver is a bonus for why I got started CRH. Sure, it has become more and more important as I've caught the silver bug, but I'm still a coin collector at heart.

    Same story for me.

Sometimes the same story for me. Like you said, there is a lot of teller turnover, so you likely will only seldom encounter Mister or Misses Grouchy, which is a benefit.

similar story. There is only one coin counting machine at any bank inside of 25 miles of me. I have been getting the halves off of that machine for several years. now in the last 3 months, they are giving me the runaround. Sigh...

Realized that there were nearly a dozen banks near my doctor's office - big chains, local chains, small banks.

5 or 6 banks had nothing. One had $3 in clad halves. One had 2 40%'res - nicer looking 1968-D's

Got two rolls of re-wrapped Loomis rolls, nothing there.

Another bank had two rolls in brown wrappers - found 2 1967's next to each other in one of the rolls.

The only other coin of note was this 1989 that had a very worn/weak obverse, and a strong reverse. Struck through grease, or a deteriorated die?

This is why you can never get tooooo upset when you get a box or a handful that you think someone else has searched through (at least for me). What I collect or hunt for, the next guy may not and what you hunt for and dump, may be my treasure (and in this case, you may miss it or I may miss it and tis your good fortune!).

It's a universal thing. I ask for any denomination of change and most of the time they are not happy campers. I only have two banks that I go to that are genuinely nice people. Ohh well, maybe you just caught them on a bad day. It doesn't seem to be that way though, does it?

Well, sometimes the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray! I searched both boxes hoping to get a continuation of the silver dump, but I missed it. The results were:
    1) $350 Box = 1 x 40%, 2 x 2002+ NIFCs, 1 x 1974-D DDO
    2) $500 Box = 0 silver, 1 x 1974-D DDO, 1 x 1987-D

At least I am still finding the DDOs!

$20 MWR nickels: 1946, 1947, 1957-D... about half the rolls were solid 2018-P

    $5 MWR pennies: 4 common wheats (1944 oldest), 5 Canada (1955 oldest), 2009, 2009-D, 1971-S, 1959 (BU).

Two neat enders though... turned out to be a brown 1950 wheatie and a BU 2009 (P) log cabin cent IMG_5730.jpg

My last four boxes for this week was a two box skunk, I pulled 6-90%ers and 5-40%ers, I also picked up 6-CWR and pulled 1-67. Its always a better day when one pulls more 90%ers than 40%ers. 1-45 Walker, 1-52D Bennie, 4-64's one D mint, 2-65, 1-66, 2-67, and 1-69. Also pulled a 2014S Clad Proof. A 23 piece week is a very good week. Me Happy!

3 more boxes yielded 1 x 64, 3 x 40%ers, 3 x 1974-DDO, 1 x 1999-S Impaired Proof, & 17 x 2002+ NIFCs. I also picked up a dime CWR from my local thrift store and found a badly worn 1950-S Roosie which even though worn is still a hole filler in my Dansco, lol!
