Is this an error and how much is it worth

    Found this in some change and thought it was a punch out from an electrical box. But it is most definitely a quarter

    I need a better close-up of the obverse, but my initial impression is that it is post-mint damage (PMD).

    Looks like it was in the dryer sine it was issued. Damaged.

    Correct. Someone intentionally ground it.
    Damage. Not a Mint Error.

    Well, if you can turn it in as mutilated change, you'll get a quarter for it.
    I have been able to turn my metal detecting and other mutilated coins in
    for the last 3 years. And redeemed at face value.
    Paddy I just got my first mutilated coin of the year. Full photo in MD thread.
