OP please take a pic, on CT, everyday we get people saying they found a 69s DDO, 55 DDO and all other rarities and when we see the picture, its not even that!!! I'm skeptical because 99.99% of the time its not what people claim it is.

It is important to get it slabbed, you say it couldn't be a counterfeit, well the Chinese are faking so many things that I wouldn't trust a raw rare coin whatsoever! It has to be slabbed, either NGC, PCGS or Anacs!!

@furryfrog02 its so disgusting the number of slabbed coins on alibaba and we all know 100% of them are fakes.

Long Beach show is coming up the end of the month. If I read it right on their site, I still need to be a member to submit?

I did not say it could not be counterfeit. I said given the source it is less likely, even unlikely, but still possible. the source is too old for a China counterfeit to be even a little bit likely but there have been counterfeiters around forever so it is still possible, thus... I want it verified

Is it worth getting modern coins graded myself like the new proof eagles or silver coins?

This thread is silly useless without pictures of this coin. Just my 2 cents.

Most likely it's not worth it. If you don't receive a 70, then you have lost money in most instances. You can also oftentimes buy 69 graded examples for less than the coin cost plus grading (bulk submitters, who pay less when submitting in bulk, tend to let those go for low premiums as they make their money on the 70s).

From what I can see from the photos, it does look legit, but I would like to see closeup photos in better lighting if you could. However, the rim gash around 1 O'clock on the Obverse, what appears to be the presence of hairlines, and also the mark in right field on the reverse makes me think it would come back details graded.

Yes you do unless you do it through someone else. The best deal is the one with the 8 vouchers if you will be submitting again in the future as the vouchers are worth more than the membership cost

Yeah, I missed this snide little crack you slipped in, OP. You ask us to share our expertise, then call us whiners because we're asking for pics? Totally uncalled for and classless.

Sorry, I won't ask for any more photos, figure out how to submit it on your own, since you want to act so smart. I'm out!

MODERATOR please just delete this entire thread.
Sorry I caused offense. I am not asking, nor have I asked anyone if they thought this coin was legit. But this tread degenerated into a questioning of weather the coin is real or not. and insistence on a picture.
I only asked about the submitting. That doesn't require a photo and I said repeatedly that I don't have a decent camera.
Anyway, MODERATOR please just delete this entire thread. It is of no use to me and apparently an offense to some. so. please just delete it.

Afraid that once you say it here, it is engraved in stone...well at least electrons. It does increase your cred that you apologized. Asking how a coin should be submitted kind of automatically raises the question of authenticity, try and relax a bit and the people here are really helpful. As to the pictures, there are people here who take phenominal pictures and give good hints (I'm not one who takes good pics, but I know some tricks). Photo editing software helps a load. PhotoScape is a free program I used to do this to your picture.

Don't forget membership fees to NGC or PCGS. You might want to consider ANACS on this one.
