Now that I am retired I am sorting my accumulation of thousands of coins. I ran across these two that I would have picked up in change or at the bank in 1953 and 1954. They are both BU but out of focus. I have found rolls of BU wheat cents from the 50's and LMC's from the 50's and 60's. Some of my accumulations haven't been looked at for decades. 1953 Cent Rev.JPG 1953 Cent Obv.JPG 1954 D Cent Obv.JPG 1954 D Cent Rev.JPG 1953 Cent Rev.JPG 1953 Cent Obv.JPG 1954 D Cent Obv.JPG 1954 D Cent Rev.JPG

Just sharing or is there a question? Your photographs make the coins appear as they are coated in something, and not copper.

Very exciting. Will you be posting all your goodies here? Hopefully so.

Edit: Found out that the coins do have their original mint and luster, but not from photograph.

Coins look great! I'd look forward to seeing the rest of your collection!

Wow. You got them in change in that shape. That’s totally cool. I keep thinking one day if/when I retire that I’ll catalog my mountain of stuff..... Stressed me out just thinking about it!

All I can say is that I am glad it is not me going through 70 years worth of coins. It took me 4-1/2 years just sorting through a $50 Mint bag of 1980 Lincolns.

By the way, I'd like to suggest that you take your photos from directly overhead rather than at an angle. Taking the images at an angle can hide some flaws.

Thanks Chris. The objective of those photos was only to show that I have some very nice coins that I found in the early 50's. I suppose to support the challenge that I have undertaken. I will take your advice as I post them for what they really are. Thanks again.

Just sharing. I tried to get photos of their real mint color and luster but did not do a good job. They do have the original color and luster. Trying only to post my success at finding nice old coins in my accumulation. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes I hope to post finds along the way. If I can get my photo process in good shape.

I started in 1948 and went to the banks regularly in hopes of getting very nice examples every year. And, I checked out the change in the local stores regularly to find nice examples.

I only wish I could be there to see what you sort out! I have a feeling you will identify some interesting items.

Thanks for all the feedback. Here are some photos of some of the stuff I have to go through. Rolls of nice condition 50's and 60's cents. Tubs of coins from all years. Tubs of nickels, Liberty. Buffalo and early Jeff's. Plus I have the early dimes, quarters and halves. I find that I will be busy.

Is that a good brand of cottage cheese?

I don't use cottage cheese but my wife likes it. Plus, I hate to add, the dogs like it. She ads some to each of their meals. It does give me tubs to use in sorting. I'll take a pic of my excess dimes soon. I think my extras go back to before 1900. Haven't started on them yet.

Thanks. I will keep it going as long as the forum can tolerate. I have no idea what the results may be. And, I'll need some input from time to time.

That would be great. All I know is which button to push. I'm was pretty good with a polaroid.

    Do you have:
    1. A camera on your phone?
    2. A 10x magnifying loupe or a magnifying glass of any sort?
    3. Photo editing software on your computer that you’re familiar with?
    4. 1-2 gooseneck lamps with CFL bulbs
    5. A stand to hold your camera
    6. A dark, preferably black, non reflective surface
