This is my main question is what is this??? It picked up silver copper. And mid range. And some iron. I dug it maybe 4to 5 inches down. I got part if it and Wiggled it out and see this long heavy piece of metal maybe weight is 3 to 4 pounds. cleaned it up to get the mud off I have no clue what it could be. Y'all have any guesses?? And I found 4 cents and a nail longer than my hand and this. Just a hunk of junk, Remember you have to dig all good signals though.
Here is a good story I have to tell: It was mid-summer, I was at my Nabors metal detecting with my garret ace 200. I was there for a few hours, enjoying my time. I already had found 12 or 13 wheat cents and a 1952 D silver Washington quarter. Of course there is that mixture of all that junk and stuff. There was a tornado warning that night so I was about ready to go back to my house. All of a sudden I got this signal in the mid 80s - 90s, I figured it would be silver. So I got digging, I found this pot shaped thing, I got all excited, it had a lid on it and was round. I though I had found a cache ( a pot of money) of some sort. So I took the lid off, and there was this most horrible smell that came out! It was a cache of poop! One things for sure, I learned my lesson from that. Lol

    What I was wishing for:

Reminds me of a story I read many moons ago in a Treasure magazine. Guy is metal detecting, somewhere in Nevada and unearths a safe. Safe was still locked. Hired a locksmith to open it. Once opened there was a message inside..."Yer out of luck pardner. The loot is long gone and so am I."

Gross. I hope not. But Can't imagine what's under all that rust. Its black underneath the rust. When I used that hammer broke off rust I see shiny black underneath.

I received a metal detector for Christmas as well. Looks like you have done better than I have. I found a construction grade staple and an aluminum pull tab.

I dig whatever I get a hit on. Found some very nice relics under iron items in the past. I hit on a cast iron stove door once, dug it and got another hit. Turned out to be an 1850's brush grubber that was preserved well by the iron door that covered it. Another time was a half buried kerosene stove that had 4 very old matching Oxen Shoes inside it that were nearly perfect. I've really done better on relics than coins.

And it’s still more valuable than 99% of the “Double Dye” coins posted here. :)

Those old 'chamber pots' are really quite collectible, however, the contents within may not be so. I picture an 'old' dude laughing his bottom off in heaven........someone finally found his little treasure.........
