BEP announces new products

Pretty sure all Mint orders come from Memphis. Once upon a time everything was shipped from the mint facility that struck it, but that was long ago. Then for years their fulfillment center was in Plainfield IN, but they moved it to Memphis maybe a couple of years ago.

So, other than the gift shops at Washington DC, Philadelphia and Denver, all of the coins struck at Denver, Philadelphia, West Point and San Francisco are shipped to Memphis for distribution ?

 

The BEP announced today that a new offering to the Lucky Money series will be available for sale at the US Mint website on December 18th at 12:00 noon (ET). 2019 Year of the Pig will be a one dollar Federal Reserve note with a serial number starting with “8888”. Looks like an "L" in the pic. Cool, I've started collecting 2013 L block $1 notes from circulation, that looks like it's "S". I don't have that one yet, guess I'll have to get one, just on the chance that they'll send something I haven't got :-D.

 

$2 Lucky Panda blocks and new products.

Has anyone seen any $2 Lucky Panda blocks other than the C, D, and F we know are out there?


New Products.
I see a couple new Coin & Currency items on the US Mint's 2019 product list. So, we have at these these two products to look forward to next year.

• Native American $1 2019 Coin & Currency Set (Summer 2019)
• 2019 Youth Coin and Currency Set (Fall 2019)

Who knows if they will continue any of the previous $2 collectibles like America's Founding Fathers, Double/Triple Note or Single Notes.

As there were no 2018 Single Notes, I have a feeling they are wrapping up the old product lines in favor of something new and interesting. Honestly, that would be fine with me. I would like to see some newer, nicer offerings than simple paper holders. I would prefer packaging more suitable to collectibles. Examples would be the 2008 $2 Double Lucky Money Set or the Texas Coin and Currency Set.

 

Totally agree. If my memory serves, I have a $10 Generations set with similar packaging.

 

Totally disagree. Don't need packaging that takes up even more storage space. A simple cardboard folder that's only a bit larger than the note will do the job just fine.

 

You have a good point. My storage space for the notes is getting rather full.

Still, I would like to see some premium notes/sets in nice holders. That said, cardboard folders would be fine for something like $2 single note complete district sets. Though, the nice binder for the Premium Federal Reserve Sets were nice

 

BEP Lucky Money Year of the Pig (2019)

I may have to cut the cord soon. Poor centering and shipping cost nearly as much as the note.

 

For what it's worth, I was placing a year-end order with the Mint and threw in a Lucky Panda just to see what I'd get. It arrived today--another H..F block.

But judging by our and Steve's previously posted serial numbers, the notes aren't being shipped in sequential order anyway, so I don't think this really tells us how close we are to seeing another block.

 

I don't know about that. Your number seems pretty in line with what I've seen posted recently on eBay. Blocks C, D, and F are the only ones I've seen it for sale. All the F blocks I've seen start with four 8s.

I really think they are simply slow sellers. Adding shipping to what was already a high premium price it's going to hurt sales even more.

 

It looks like it. Before, when I bought more than one of an item, I'd get sequential serials. Not any more, it seems. Can't count on nothin' .

It appears the 2019 Happy Birthday notes have already sold out. Also the $10 generations set, which came out in 2012. The BEP must be getting greater exposure since they teamed up with the mint, which sometimes has 20 or 30- minute sellouts on some items.

 

What is, or, is there a difference between “Sold Out” and “Currently Unavailable “ ? I had no idea that a Happy Birthday note, with a 12K limit, would sell out in hours.

 

Regarding the Mint webstore: "Sold Out" means there ain't no more. "Currently Unavailable" means there might be more--maybe large quantities that just aren't ready to sell because they haven't been packaged yet, maybe a handful of pieces that become available due to order cancellations.

Any Mint product that sells out generally hangs out in "Currently Unavailable" status for a while first, so that those last few pieces can be sold if they turn out to become available. But "Currently Unavailable" certainly does *not* always mean the product is nearly sold out.

I put myself on the “Currently Unavailable” list and was notified an example was available. I’ve seen blocks C-E, L-L, and L-M on eBay but I’ve never seen a limit (12,000) put on the annual Birthday notes before.

 

Does anyone know when, or what year the BEP started offering the Happy Birthday note ? The earliest I can find in the BEP press release archives is 2016.
