    I do use TPGS firms, but not the way most collectors do. I use them for uniformity in "look" for formal exhibit, and because gaudy grades make people go "ooh".

    Keep in mind, I'm NOT one of those people who think slabbed population reports are worth even doggie doo doo. I KNOW there are many more great raw coins that have never seen the Florida Gulf Coast or Southern California.

    I prove it every time I submit coins.

    this is paraphrased from a reply I received from another well-known author and professional on a different forum "the grading services do a poor job when confronted with errors that are subtle, obscure, novel, compound, or complex. They're not all that reliable with respect to simple, straightforward errors."
