Medal (around 27mm) for the installation of the Bishop of Malaga, in southern Spain. I bought this there on a cruise ship stop a few years ago. Sold to me as silver and passes the ring test.
This arrived in the mail today. I grew up in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey and as a Boy Scout, sold these door to door in 1976. The price was $1. I remember my family had three of them but I don't recall what became of them. Pleased to see this on eBay. About 44 mm, pewter finish. The designs are based on the borough seal, and the date, 1894, is the date the Borough of Woodcliff (as it then was) came into being.
excellent find, Larry. These ae relatively scarce, and I only have a few: 2 or 3 like yours. 1 or 2 with one silver round in it and 2 with both silver rounds. Whitman produced the silver rounds from 1986 to 1997. They are all relatively scarce today, and I know of only one complete set out there today, housed in an equally scarce Whitman album. For more info: read pages 262 to 268 in my book.
I added the copper round to a silver round that I had bought a few years ago. Lewis and Clark Medalic Arts Copper Silver
India bank token. Numista says this about them: "Before the years of ATM to be used, for withdraw money in bank. The customer fill out a slip and hand over the account statement book to the bank counter. At same time, the counter staff will issue a number plate and write plate number on slip. When the money is ready by cashier, they will make a announcement, checking and match number with plate that customer hold, reclaimed the number plate and give money."
I picked up this with a bunch of British silver coinage yesterday. Appears to be Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, although their names are not mentioned. (Could also be the Earl of Derby and his wife if they looked very similar!) Reverse is a superb Coat of Arms for Preston. Edge is inscribed to Francis Hamilton Mellor, Recorder of Preston. (Recorder is a rank in the English judiciary.) See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Mellor Medal is in Copper and measures about 50mm across. All the references I have found so far on the web are for a smaller pewter copy. PS - apologies for the hairs - I did not spot those when I did the photos!)
Random stuff I bought today. Hoping silver keeps going up. I thought the way this bag was labeled and reused was pretty cool I liked the font on this BoA was cool. Only paid $1 for both bags And here’s a pin I bought last week
One of the items I've had the longest, I got it around 1976 at Boy Scout national headquarters when my troop visited there.
