Hello I have found a 2016 one pound and I think there is an error. There isn't a "dp" at all. Only a "d" . what do u think? What is special here?
I think with the new series of pound coins here in the UK, the quality control has been well below standard. There are numerous minor faults but so many that they cannot really be classed as "error" coins - just poor quality. One collector over here collected 60 brand new pound coins and identified 32 different faults in that group. If anyone really tried to collect every one I think they would go insane! There is one genuine "error" so far recorded: The new pounds have a large date on the obverse. On the reverse there are "micro-dates" just inside the rim all the way round. A very small number have been recorded where these micro-dates do not match the main date. This is a genuine error as it means the dies for two different years have got mixed.
This is not Bi-Metallic but it's a Pound Mint Error. Struck 90% Off-Center It's actually a 2004.. Seller had wrong date. From my collection -
Ok, That pattern was put on the edge of £1 coins which featured bridges. Your 2005 is the Welsh reverse, Menai Straits Bridge.
