    The way it looks, it is most likely just decades of circulation wear and environmental damage.

    Finding a wheat cent while roll hunting must be a rare occurrence these days.
    It is to bad your cent does not have any numismatic value due to its condition.
    I would not think there are to many wheaties in circulation at a time when roll hunters are saving pre-1982 copper cents.

    They don't get bad with age, they get bad due to poor storage conditions.

    I had a great find one time , when you say coin hunting, do you mean with a metal detector, I guess it was six years ago I found a old toolbox with over four hundred dollars in twenty's costume jewelry, tool's and cigarettes

    That is neat haven't tried the metal detector yet. I am pretty busy with special needs granddaughter an my son (grown has mental health disability ) so pretty much home an work. But when life isn't so demanding I'm on it
