Here's one from yesterday so it classifies as as Chistmas coin!


Obverse: IMP CAE C VIB VOLVSIANO AVG. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right.

Reverse: FELICITAS PVBLICA S-C. Felicitas standing left, leaning on column, holding caduceus and sceptre.

Nice coin, MUCH better in hand than in photo, conserving complete details in both sides: very difficult to find in this rude issues. Superb natural patina. Good VF.

No coins for me this year. I should have guessed when I got coal in my shoe on Saint Nicholas Abend. Not to worry, this bad boy will do his best next year, eh? But I did get this niffty sweatshirt though:

o kool....i love those chocolate coins ...this came in yesterday..a Trajan bronze for the '5 good' in my collection of that group/material...i don't know too much about it yet...weighs 9.24gms and 26.5mm wlth what caught my eye was how large the shoulder/chest was on the bust...Merry Christmas Day all

 

@furryfrog02 - looks like a lot of nice detail there - 4 that I think I can make out just from your photo. No new coins for me, however a T-shirt from my daughter that is perfect for wearing while contemplating a roman coin Sit nativitatis Domini festum vobis beatum ac felix, annus novus faustus et prosperus!

 

Nice! Uncleaned LRBs are always a good time. I'll take those over chocolate any day (and I love chocolate!).
The little lady must've had a talk with old saint Nick cause I received a couple coin books!
The 1st was recommended by a couple CT pals, Coinage in the Roman Economy, and it's written by one of my favorite historians Kenneth W Harl! I've listened to many a lecture of his through The Great Courses!
Then a MASSIVE upgrade to my Eric l, Eric ll! When the box came in the mail I knew straight away what she got me. This thing is a beast of knowledge!
Plus, a fun build your own pinball machine to build with my boys (might have to wait a couple more years for em to be ready).

The first of the lot came out alright. A nice looking Falling Horseman. Shame that it seems to be a bit lightly struck so the whole mintmark on the reverse and the first part of the legend on the obverse is missing.

I believe it to be:
Constantius II AE3. 351-355 AD.
Obv: D N CONSTANTIVS P F AVG, diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right
Rev: FEL TEMP REPARATIO, soldier advancing left, spearing fallen horseman (reaching type).
Mintmark ASIRM dot.

No coins for me today but I did get some great kitchen gadgets (I am the sole cook in the house).

I also got these from my wife to feed my geeky side (as if coins do not already do that).

R2D2 app controlled droid by Sphero about 7 inches tall. I have already had it roaming around the house. It is awesome.

My wife was good to me! Like @Ryro , I received ERIC II! It came wrapped in a poster of Roman Imperial coins and my copy was numbered and signed by the author!!



But that's not all! I received a couple of coins!

Mysia, Pergamon, after the end of the Pergamene Kingdom, 133-27 BC.
Bronze Æ 15.7 mm, 3.55 g, 12 h.
Obv: Head of Athena right, wearing crested helmet ornamented with star.
Rev: AΘΗ-ΝΑΣ ΝΙΚΗΦΟΡΟΥ, owl standing facing on palm, with wings spread,TK monogram left and ΠΛ right.
Refs: SNG Copenhagen 388 (same); c.f. SNG von Aulock 1375-6, BMC 197-199, SNG France 1920-2, SNG BN 1913-6 (various monograms).

I received a number of unexpected coin and coin-related gifts from other members and am stunned and delighted! It has been an exhausting few weeks and I've just finished with family obligations today-- time to collapse for the rest of the day (came down with a cold too ).

Tomorrow I'll shoot coin pictures.

Nothing ancient coin related gifted but my wife's continuing ability to "look the other way" as weird charges hit the credit card via PayPal - that is the gift that keeps on giving!
