As the gentleman said they didn't make those planchets in '99, the Eagle is 150 some odd years ago with a limited chance of that sort of error happening in modern day and, well, just to make sure, you might weigh the '99 for validity or send it to a metallurgist for X-ray which could be cost prohibitive to make sure a Zinc didn't get mixed in the loading chute somehow. I agree with @paddyman98

    Wait . . . . What?!
    You haven't weighed it?
Weight is probably the most important diagnostic.

didn't you post earlier that your books haven't arrived? Until then you can use Coin facts from the PCGS website to get a minimum amount of info on US coins such as weight, photos etc...I was wondering if nobody had supplied you with a few coin info links yet. I'm sure there are better sites available for free.

Check your Redbook. A flying eagle cent weighs 4.68 grams. It was struck in a thicker planchet with 12% Ni.

BTW, the weight info has been previously posted for the troll er... OP in at least one of his previous posts rambling about this coin

Why keep bothering with this guy. Every little remark screams that he's trolling and just trying to get a rise out of everyone. He has nothing to offer the forum and obviously doesn't care to learn. One minute he professes having little knowledge and the next he will show everyone they are wrong. I seriously don't know why tammigee keeps addressing him as if he's just misunderstood.

Been doing this long enough to take care of my own self ;)

Let's just leave this thread alone.. Waste of time in my honest opinion!
