I've been working on a small size $1 silver certificate set for years. I just got the last one I needed on eBay today. It's a 1935 $1 Experimental B-B Block Silver Certificate. I said "about" because it's not in my hands -- yet. It's not a high grade; probably in the VG neighborhood. But over the years of searching I'm only met one dealer who has ever dealt with one. Pictures when it arrives (towards the end of next week).
Will you also be posting the whole set? I would (surely the whole forum would) appreciate seeing it !
Congrats! "completion" - that's a concept I don't think I've ever reached, at least in any large scale.
If you mean the 1935 $1 experimentals, I'll see if I can remember. At my age remembering has become a problem.
I've got the R & S notes and all of the Mules. But I don't do silver certificate star notes. They get VERY pricey. Basically my currency collection was intended to be all $1 small size notes. I'm aware of the Gilbert experimentals as well as the Natick (sp?) but I haven't put any effort into them. My 1963, 1963-A and 1963-B normal sets (all Federal Reserves and all blocks) are complete and am working on the star versions. Trying to do the same with the 1969 and 2003 issues.
Okay, my $1 1935 BB Block experimental arrived. It looks a bit ratty but I'm very pleased to have found one and received it. I really thought it wasn't going to happen. Here's the images: I'm trying to think of a coin that's comparable. There were 3,300,000 that were printed but I wouldn't be surprised if there are less than 1000 in existence -- maybe even less than 100. It's not priced like that BUT probably because there isn't that much demand. I called it possibly VG but I'm open to more experienced opinions.
