At a second look, the photo is fuzzy, and is there a DD on the '9'?

It sure is. If you notice the 9 with the split in the middle, and also the notch on the bottom of the 1 to the west. I have 3 just like it. The coin is worn but it still is a premium buy for the grade you think it is.

I compared it to a pic in Breen's Encyclopedia and I just don't see it. Save your money on this one, JMO.

It's my opinion that it's this coin.

Yup, I emailed the seller to find out what he cleaned it with. That is very important!:vanish::thumb:

Thanks Rhubarb, I've been collecting for many years, mostly mercury dimes. That's the great thing about this hobby, you're always learning.

Greg, I'd pass if I were you, try looking for a non cleaned example. If you are patient, you are sure to find a nice one at a decent price. :thumb:

Great, thanks for the feedback! I'm not going to bid on this coin, and I'll wait until something decent will come up.

BTW Rhubarb, Is the Toothpaste and Tarn-X bad for the coin?

It can't be good for it! Seriously, though, if you're just looking for a cheap example of this variety it's probably not a bad deal, though I'm not sure I'd pay more than the minimum bid.

Toothpaste is an abrasive compound that will scratch the copper. Tarn-X will strip the Patina off of the coin.
