As a non circulating coin, it's not really a coin series. It's more of a commemorative.

Because I am an anal person, with a type A personality, I have OCD, and must have every coin series issued as legal tender, whether I like the design or not. Coin collecting isn't just a hobby for me, it's a sickness. :)

I'll wait and see for a few years...first impression is not a good one for me...just another Dansco in an already packed safe.

I pre-ordered them from someone on Ebay as I always do, and they have edge lettering as the previous set of presidential dollars. This means they will have both positions.

Ha ha! I suspected as much! I applaud your honesty.

For what it's worth, I freed myself from the compulsion to fill holes and am a much happier collector for it. It took years and multiple failed attempts (much like we hear about quitting smoking), but I finally did it.

It took me five minutes to quit smoking. After 15 years I threw it in the garbage can and haven't had another in 25 years. Coins, on the other hand, much harder habit...and soda. :)

I decided at the beginning of the state quarters program that I would only collect coins out to 2009, so most of these newer issues seem like they are deluging us with too much mediocre coins.

Interesting. I can relate, because I decided at the beginning of the state quarters program (1999) that the 99 SBA would be the last coin added to my US collection. Turn of the century seemed like a convenient cutoff point, and I haven't regretted it for even a millisecond.

Then, being printed on the rim, there will be "A" position and "B" position. You won't be able to get those in circulation. So, you need to pay another premium if you want a complete set. Big scam pushed by big business. The major retailers in the hobby need to keep the varieties coming to stay in business.

I agree. 1999 was the last year of my complete U S Stamp Collection. For the same reason as coins. The USPS is producing so many new stamps that it costs several hundred dollars a year to keep up. And, it is virtually nothing but wallpaper. I stopped serious coin collecting last year. I terminated most of my US Mint "subscriptions" and have narrowed my interests.

I'm not exactly sure what that is, but I'm sure I've never had one.

Most definitely! Took a deep breath -- nothing came in --- shocked me --- so I threw them in the can. I need a patch for soda. :)

If you have an account with the US Mint you can "subscribe" to certain annual releases. You can subscribe to Mint Sets, Proof Sets, American Eagle, etc. Then as they are released your order is processed and filled. If you have an account just log in and find subscriptions and place yours.

Years ago I worked with a bunch of staunch smokers. They couldn't wait for breaks to go out and smoke. I bummed a cigarette off one of them and carried it around for over a week in my pocket. I would show it to them daily and tell them how I didn't have an urge to smoke it. They were amazed at my fortitude. I failed to tell them that I had never smoked.

Nice idea to learn more about our country.

Are they going to include the P&D in the Uncirculated Mint Sets?

As a side question, I wonder if Bush 41 will be on the dollar in 2019.

It is an easy way to prevent overlooking something that you want to get every year or every release. You can order 1 each or several. I dropped most on mine because the volume of coins is getting to be too much.
