HI there found this wheat penny. I can't read last 2 digits of date. When you drop it it doesn't sound how a penny should. When you drop it sounds kind of like rolling dice on a table. It is smaller then a regular wheat. I did my best to take pictures. It weighs 3.10g. Is it man made error or?

    That's about as " man-made " as it gets.
Someone purposely inflicted " pain " on that coin.

Actually, something like that is referred to as PMD - Post Mint Damage.

It has no numismatic value whatsoever and you may even have a hard time trying to use it as a penny.

The up side (if there is one) is to put it in your box of oddities and use it for Show and Tell. You know, show it to your buddies and tell them where you got it and everyone can have a big laugh about how ugly it is.

That coin may be the Quasimodo of Lincoln cents.

BTW, the only coin that I'm aware of that makes a notable sound when dropped is a silver coin. It sort of has a ring to it, but you don't want to be dropping your silver coins on the floor or table, or God Forbid, the concrete just to hear them " ring " anyway. Unless of course you either just want to damage them or they are already so damaged that more damage doesn't matter.

I learned long ago that " If you take care of your coins, your coins will take care of you. "

You can quote me on that.

You've already got the best help available on that other coin without me putting my two Wheat cents in.
