I'm not a big fan of strike designations, but on the date/mm where it is common, I probably will insist that he go for the FBL. The set is going to be a gem/premium get set with a focus on luster and eye appeal but nothing with extravagant toning. At this point, my goal is to get him to show some restraint. He wants to bid on everything and I'm trying to get him to go slow so I'm waving off on most of his selections. He's bidding on a 1951 MS65 FBL in tonights Heritage Auction that I have dubbed the measles half dollar. I would prefer he get outbid.

I find that mine looks that good, but I never thought of them in terms of MS grades. I don't care much for oxidized coins either, but that's a to-each-his-own situation. Franklins are beautiful!

A very nice 66 which borders on 67, very rare in this cond.,and could bump higher. No MS Franklin is free of bagmarks.

It was pretty easy, now if you had predicted the CAC, that woulda deserved some kudos.

Didn't we just see a MS67 that was over graded. Kinda sucks when this coin should of be considered over that 67. Not saying this one is a 67. What i saying the 67 should of been this coins underling

I look for grade and FBL when affordable. I was able to acquire some real nice proofs recently.

Im working on this set too. Very nice 66!!! Seems harder to find quality with little to no toning.

I was going to say 66, no FBL, and then noticed as I went further in the thread that you had posted the coin. Nice '63-D.

I was about to post 66, but the doors were closed. The green bean is well-deserved. I would have gone with the * designation.
