Hi everyone at Coin Talk. Thanks for spending time reviewing and commenting on coins of interest. This particular coin was a huge surprise. My thoughts, maybe a possible "Adjustment Strike Error". This coins' side 3 has very little reeds on 90% of the surface, similar to the coins used in the casinos. I gave a coworker $7 for quarters received as change in a company vending machine. It wasn't until the next day when I had time to look with my camera that I discovered the missing "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the #1 in 1983. GW's mouth is lightly struck as well as the reverse "AMERICA" as well as "QUARTER DOLLAR". Dark pin holes of various sizes are scattered where "IN GOD WE TRUST". The coin weighs 5.57g. Well here are some pictures: Thanks for weighing in.

The missing 1 and letters are likely struck through grease and the pin holes are from environmental damage.

Likely not worth anything over .25 cents.

    IMO

Just looks to me like a coin that has had a hard life.

Thanks "franking". Last month was my 1 year to date coin collecting anniversary. Still a "newbee" with lots to learn but I'm loving every moment of the time I spend searching, collecting, and researching. Thanks for the "Welcome". it's the professionals such as yourself and others, that weigh in which makes "Coin Talk" so special in our learning curve. Hats off to all.

You can see where the reeding used to be and has worn off. Dryer, casino, etc.

Without getting political, when Fred Thompson (district attorney on Law & Order: SVU) was in the running for the Presidential nomination Saturday Night Live used to make fun of him as always needing a rest or a nap.

Ah. I like Law & Order but my sleep schedule makes it difficult to watch often. Thanks for clarifying. There just never seems to be enough hours in the day do everything that's on my wish list. Top priorities: work. o.t., family, and of course....coin collecting...(my favorite hobby). Take care "Kentucky Supporter", nice to meet you.
