Fair enough Mark, now we're communicating as individuals instead of reputations... BTW, the name is Bennett Blake V (don't get confused with your google, there are a few of us, all related), grew up in Texas and always was a collector (late 60s, sorry no link ), but it wasn't until the past 10 years or so did I begin to get involved with expanding my collection via the internet auction services. Mainly Ebay and Vcoins. It wasn't until the past 4 or 5 years did I encounter the sub-culture of coin collecting online and "Boy Howdy... Has it been eye-opening..." Take Care Ben
So, if you really, really, really, want to be technical, would it be factual to say all coins have been cleaned? Would the washing at the mint be considered a "cleaning"? Just some things to chew on, if I am wrong (which I probably am most likely ) then just get spit back out at me. Phoenix
here are my 2 cents for you Phoenix. if the washing is part of the mfg process then the coin is not considered to be cleaned till the process is complete and the coin actually gets manufactured so its not cleaning IMHO. but yes most cons are cleaned even the ones in the slabs. no matter how much we hate it our coins wont last forever nothing does
Phoenix they are cleaned at the mint before they become coins. The mint washes the planchets before the planchets are struck which is what turns the planchets into coins. So the answer to your question is no.
Ahhh, okay, now I get it. I've wondered that for awhile, was hesitant on asking though. Now I can go off in peace, till another question pops up. Thanks spock and GD. :thumb: Phoenix
i think those will be your prophetic words after the final of your contest. After I have beaten GD of course
