What bulk coinage do you own

Been collecting for 5 years , not just one year. But have to admit I'd rather have silver stash than unbacked currency, got a bad feeling about this world conflict all over.

Yeh your right I have some Wheaties but to lazy to look through them ,maybe start picking up some mercs,& rosies for small barter. Silver is really dirt cheap now. and a silver dime may by a loaf of bread and can of soup.

Not really. Back in the late 1970s when I first started collecting halves by Overton die marriage it was "common knowledge" there were too many 1827 marriages that resembled each other to the point that "No one can do that year." 40 years later and they are correct; I still need 3 marriages and 2 die states (none of which I will ever own short of a very large cherry tree falling on my head), but I still can't seem to pass up many 1827s.

My current bulk pile is foreign junk silver coins. It's fun and can be a way to get silver coins for a fraction of silver value from unknowing or uncaring sellers.

It's more interesting than a big pile of silver Roosevelts and Washingtons

That's exactly why I buy so many foreign silver coins than American ones.

 

I have 187 rolls of Lincoln cents, all BU. Plus 5 rolls of single-year proofs that someone put together. I think I have a few rolls of single-year circulated (I know 1926 is one) but I really prefer the BU rolls.

 

Do you just keep them as rolls or do you go through them?Were they put together in rolls as a means of storing/saving?

And I was thinking about starting to post pix of my stuff but after seeing that, I thought, why embarrass myself.

 

I have 2 unopened $50.00 buckets of 1982 cents, that's 10,000 cents. Also have 25,000 copper cents and over 50,000 wheat cents, all unsearched by me. Not to mention over 1500 silver dollars.

Yes, I'm like Fort Knox and I have my personal arsenal, all for security and protection.

 

You can hire me to protect your stuff. I can also "audit" your coins, you know, to make sure its all there.

 

My wife doesn't touch my coins and the last person to do is now called stubby.

 

A few years back I decided to get rid of most of my bulk coins; about 1000 IHC, 10000 wheat Lincolns, 20 rolls of buffalo nickels, and some common silver. I'm left with many thousand pre 1982 memorial Lincolns in case copper becomes valuable (in my dreams). Now that I'm retired I'm concentrating on quality/rarity over quantity.

 

I have over 1,000 wheat cents. I used to buy them by the roll many years ago. I haven't done that in many years, but I still have all of them.

I also have an old cookie can full of foreign (nonAmerican) coins and tokens that I've picked up here and there or when travelling. There are more than 1,000 coins in there, but I doubt there are any of much value.

 

I have a coffee can filled with wheat cents (21) pounds. 200 Kennedy halves that I am going through now. Maybe if we get snowed in I'll start to sort the cents by decades

 

Nothing interesting. Somewhere along the line, I somehow ended up with a few hundred Australian 1 and 2 cent coins from the 1980's.

Maybe I'll just go bury them in the woods somewhere just to mess with a metal detectorist in fifty years. They'll wonder how something like that ended up in the backwoods of Louisiana. (and why?)

 

I have several unopened mint rolls of quarters and Kennedy halves, along with a bag of 1983 halves from the mint. I don't know if I'll go through them or sell them.

 

The rolls that I received in plastic tubes I've mostly gone through, but a lot of the OBW ones are still intact. My original plan was to go through the roll, pull out the best for my collection and then sell the rest.

But, alas, I'm more of an accumulator than a collector so there they sit.
