I bought a fake coin :(

    So I would never intentionally buy a fake or replica coin. Unless I knew for sure it is absolutely impossible for me, or for anyone to own one.

    So ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you-

    Copy of the 1849 Double Eagle

    I paid very handsomely for this specimen. 1/20th of its face value.

    Depends on whether or not the other one ever shows up again. Heck even the gilt copper one would be great to have if it ever shows up again.

    There were two at one time, right? One's just missing. Two proofs were struck December 22, 1849.
