Many members on this forum are doing 2018 Collection reviews, wrap ups and anything else. This is a great idea. Such a great idea that I decided to build on it and do a longer version. Though I cannot tell you every coin I ever sold or bought, I can give a general timeline. How much collection is, was and what major changes there were.

Spring 2016- I was on a spring break mission trip with my church, we were at a Chinese buffet for dinner and I knew I would have a lot of down time when we got back to the location we were staying at, so I asked the cashier for 2 rolls of pennies, my collection has officially begun! Now I cannot honestly say I was interested in the coins, I just wanted to look at the different cents and see what dates there were. Well lets just say I only found one date, BU 2015 rolls. Well that was a RIP

September 2016-My first coin show. My first coin show was a small local show with perhaps about 15 dealers. World, US, Ancient, they had it all. I think I brought about $6, not really aware about price ranges of coins. But I did buy a world coin, A Ukrainian 5 Konihok piece. Some wheat pennies for 3 cents each, I took about 30 mins searching for the oldest dates. My Dad bought me a 2002 Proof Set (Thanks Dad) and an ancient coin that I soon lost, but with the help of the Ancient Forum, I quickly rediscovered what the coin was and I hope to buy a replacement in 2019.

Christmas 2016- I got my first Redbook! It was 2017 edition, very helpful and I son discovered how important it is.

Summer 2017- I met a fellow collector my age, he enjoyed coins but he didn’t know where to start. CoinBlazer to the rescue. I taught him all I know and we went to local shops in my area all that summer and fall. At the moment he says he isn’t really buying coins but he definitely enjoys the ones he has

Winter of 2017- Some I met this girl…..

Spring of 2018- Continued to buy and sell coins to my two local shops, continue to learn all I can. I start to focus on my collecting and less “ooh look at that coin”

Summer of 2018- I introduced another collector to numismatics, me and him still hang out every day and love to buy and sell and we partnered up to do some online sales.

Fall 2018- So I met this other girl….

Winter 2018- Here I am, On CT more than doing my homework (or sleeping)

Hoping to give the new people some inspiration and the experts some laughs.

    Still learning more everyday.

    Thanks for reading!

    Questions and comments welcome!

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Do you have any IDEA how many collections have died starting with the words, "I met this girl"? Even if you do get to the altar, a lot of collections die with the words, "my lawyer says this is all subject to equitable distribution".

Not in my case, but I fight REALLY mean, too. Brought in forensic psychologists, I did.

Not just funny. In fact, when it happens to YOU, it’s WAAAAY not funny. It’s why I did my second divorce pro se. The only guy who ever looked out for me in court was me. No lawyer ever did.

Yeah but when I said that in the original post I wasn’t worried about a divorce case

In other words a thought out, meaningful post was somewhat spoiled by the resident spoiler who is occasionally amusing. Typically you want a dry blanket. Not a wet blanket thrown onto you (or your thread). lol Which was the case here...
