Ike dollar 1976-D Type 1

This is one of the few Ike dollars I pulled from the hundred I went through. Unfortunately it has some scratches on the reverse, above the bell, but it’s a fun variety to find. The “U over U” is what to look for with the type 1.

Are you sure yours is the Type 2? Which is the most common one.
I have a Type 2 and my "U's" are much further apart than yours.

OP's is a Type 1. Big Fat Bold Letters. U's have nothing to do with it as far as the diagnostics I use.

Yes mine has the delicate letters.
And the U's are not lined up.

Thanks for the correction. I got them mixed in my head. Even so, I’m happy to let @CoinCorgi that he is wrong. U over U is a very easy tell. And I see that corgi is just saying he doesn’t use the U. Poorly written to make it sound like Us are not a tell.

I'm not wrong. I just said I don't use the U's as a diagnostic (even though they are, I don't use it).

Thanks for the site with pic's I have a type 1

 

My pick up point is the second S in STATES. On type 1 the tail goes up to the middle bar of the E, on the type 2 it doesn't rise above the top of the bottom bar.

 

I had not noticed this. Always an education which I enjoy.
