I've been working on three Habitat houses for the past year. Today a construction company graded the last yard. One worker then pulled out his dector. I five minutes he picked up a 1921 Peace Dollar in very nice shape. And I've walked over that coin for over a year!
Amazing what pops up in construction sites too. During the reconstruction of a multi layered Street in Chicago not long ago, one smart construction worker constantly found coins, old bottles, old cans, strange stones, excessively aged wood. He showed me some of the coins and there were a few Gold, lots of Silver and just miscellaneous coins of all ages.
I work with a lady whose husband found a gold Eagle under the floor of a house they were tearing down. Can't remember the date, but she brought it to work and showed me. Nice find!
There are more coins in the ground than in Circulation right now!!! That is the god honest truth! I am a metal detectorist for that reason. My best find is a 1876 CC Seated dime.
i once found a mercury dime dated 1921 in a roll but i wonder where it went. i havent been able to find it since then
Never found anything that good, but my dad found a1857 FE on a path that our cows walked on from the barn to pasture. There are alot of indian artifacts in the area as well.
