My heartbreak came on October 24th. I had my hopes on this flawless AV Aureus of Faustina Diva. The auction was during my work time. So, I put in a proxy bid of 11K UK Pounds/ feeling I had it in the bag. Well, I got home at 7:00PM and happily checked the Salesroom site for results. Shocked to find I got outbid during event. Estimate was 8K. Please list your sad losses. 4409850l.jpg

image00427.jpg Marcus Aurelius, 35mm medallion. Reverse shows one of the greatest scenes from the Iliad: Hector just catches his wife and baby as he heads out to battle Achilles. Baby Astyanax is scared of his plumed helmet. Extremely rare, and a stunning scene. I bid more than I've ever paid for a coin, but lost out to snipes at the end. This is the coin I'll always regret most, because I doubt I'll ever get another chance. It's not as beautiful as the aureus, but I love the story and the image.

You really made my day bad, but congratulations on winning it:) I will try on others.
In your shoes I would have done the same, that is why we love this hobby.

I guess he meant that the coin was examined and then NGC slabbed? So probably it's going to reappear soon in another auction...

Had i won it.....it would never have reappeared in another auction. She would have found a permanent home with me:happy: This was a "keeper" for life. But then gain, if someone wanted to trade for a FDC Postumus aureus/ maybe then.....

Sorry you missed that one, @panzerman ! The closest that I've experienced is the time I spotted a Judaean coin that I had been on the lookout for on a dealer website. I made the mistake of sleeping on it for a night. I actually had a dream about the coin that night. The first thing in the morning I visited the website with credit card in hand and to my horror :jawdrop: the coin had been moved to the sold page.
