Its going to get a workout on MPLs and a 1877 IHC PR65RB I just cant seem to take a picture of. Ive got on old enlarger stand which will work well as a copy stand, and a few flex arm lamps which I can set up with different bulbs as needed. Anyone else using this camera?
Sounds like your excited. Try and remember in many instances it's the person taking the photos, not the camera that makes the difference. Looks like a nice camera. I really don't like it when you have to go through an entire add for the price though. Noticed it is one of those proprietary batteries like Sony and others use. This means that when it goes dead you have to stop and recharge. I suggest as soon as you get your camera you start looking for a backup battery. If, and it will happen, you are taking photos and away from the charging unit and the battery goes dead right in the middle of someting, you'll be saying OH NO. I have a Samsung with such a propritary battery and no one sells them except through the internet. And are they expensive. Hopefully yours are more common.
Yeah this is my old camera (actually I build things like this, this is a 24X24 tintype camera I made for the fellow in the straw hat, John Coffer)
In further examination of that add I noticed there is a 3-1/2 hours charging time for that battery. One more reason to find a backup battery. Note the statement of 32MB internal Memory*. I don't like the * and then no explanation of what the * means. Or did I miss that. Also, if you do not already use SD or MMC removable type cards for something, this camera could use one or you'll be super limited to what photos you can take with only 32MB. The Package contains statement does not cover those cards. If you go for shopping for one note many stores now have the 1, 2 and even 4 Gig SD cards for decent prices. The instruction manual with the camera should tell you how many photos you can take with what type of card with what type of settings. I suggest a 2 Gig SD card or 2 - 1Gig cards. Around me they go for about $20 for the $1 and $25 for the 2 Gig cards.
Your camera will support the newer SDHC cards (4GB +). If you do go that route, make sure you get one that comes with the reader/adapter. Most readers do not support SDHC (or they didn't when I bought mine, the fun part of being an early adopter). For most users a 2GB card is sufficient, that should give you enough storage for 600 photos (roughly)
Camera arrived (UPS IS GREAT) and put it to work The little guy arrived today, smaller and more compact than I thought. After changing around an old Federal enlarger stand, and arranging two lights, I rephotographed my www.lincolncentennial.com 1909 registry set. I am very VERY pleased with the results! It took twenty images before I had to download them, the limit of the internal memory. We will deal with that, tomorrow I do my Matte Proof Lincolns!
