This is a a 1999 D DDR/DDO error coin. This Lincholn modern cent is struck over a flying eagle one cent coin. My question is it authentic? I recently I became a coin enthusiast so my knowledge on errors and verieties is to a minimum. But even with that minimum I think it's a one of a kind coin. Let me know what u guys think?
That certainly would be a one of a kind coin. Realize though that is is mighty difficult to resolve in a rational world just how a 150 year old coin could find it's way into a modern mint run. Anyway, as has been said, without photos all anyone can do is speculate.
DDO, DDR, AND struck over a flying eagle cent? The odds would be way beyond astronomical, bordering on impossible. Post some clear pictures and I am sure someone can get to the bottom of what it really is. Flying Eagle cents were struck in a different composition and were much thicker and heavier than a modern Lincoln cent. It should be pretty obvious if your coin is that much different.
Even without pics, I'll bet the Lincoln cent impression on the FE cent is incuse and backward indicting a squeeze job.
I don't clearly see exactly what he is seeing. Bits and pieces of something. Plating blisters. Looks like all worn out die to me. And on a 1999? Idk.
Glad to see the word I've been using here is applied to this coin. It's one of the best examples of Pareidolia I've ever seen !
Allot of arrows too I'm unable too see. Put a clean copy of the whole entire coin front and back. To much going on in your photos. Made My brain go 100 mph left, right, up down, every where. I couldn't focus. Show a picture with out arrows. Let's see about this thing..
