With the exception being a silver dime planchet that somehow found it's way into the cent coining press. But of course every one of these silver penny posts has complete rims/ and weight of a cent.
Sorry to bore you all with my stupid post about a coin that I didn’t understand. I didn’t realize that it was such a common occurrence or that there were a bazillion posts where people thought they had a silver coin that was just plated. Yes I did ask a jeweler if it was silver and yes he did say it was not silver. He said nothing about it being plated. Maybe he thought it, but he didn’t say it. So I thought what the heck I’ll throw it out there for some people who know something about coins to look at and maybe, just maybe I have something rare and of value. I wasn’t looking to sell it, I just wanted to know what it was. Now I do. I know many of you know more about coins than I ever will. Thanks for making the rest of us feel like idiots. For those of you who were actually helpful and didn’t treat this thread like an episode of the weakest link I really do appreciate your responses. I probably get booted from the site now, just as well.
No you won't get booted. That will only happen if you cuss a lot! Sorry to have upset you. Your question was a valid one. Welcome to CoinTalk
No one knows everything. Everyone has to start somewhere. No one is making fun of you. It is because as you said there are dozens of these same posts.
You know how it is when everyone around you acts like they've heard everything you said before from somebody else? You ever have that happen? Well it does, to us, here, every day here. IT NEVER STOPS! MAKE IT STOP! Doc, for Gawd's sake, make it STOP!!! Yeah, it's a little like that.
You’re all good. I started with a similar thread and I wasn’t sure about plating. Lots of good knowledge on here. Stick around and learn and learn and learn.lol I am on the site a lot just taking stuff in and hoping to contribute from time to time.
