Pobjoy silver pound error

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by FinishedWalkout, Dec 11, 2018.

  1. Found an article about a frosting error in the minting of 2 oz. silver Pegasus by the Pobjoy mint. If I understood correctly, the entire mintage has a doubled effect on the obverse(?). If it was the entire number of coins to be minted , would it constitute an error ? That is, would it be considered an error by collectors if there is no example to compare it to ?

all the minted coins have the same "error"?

    never heard of pobjoy.

  4. Yeah a British mint. And yes if I read the article correctly all of the 2018 reverse proofs were victims.

Is this what the error market has been reduced to?

Come on. The Pobjoy Mint? THE BIGGEST maker of NIFC coins for countries IN THE ENTIRE WORLD??? Plus some IFC coins, too. Seems like lots and lots of people on here REALLY BADLY need to step away from the monitor and slowly back away toward an ANA convention.

  14. Yeah I'm not surprised if collectors haven't heard of Pobjoy because their thing is non-circulating legal tender, medallions oh, but they do mint millions of coins a year

  16. Thank you. After you literate people read this a sensible determination can be made.

  17. It's an attractive coin. I thought maybe it's worth trying to find out if this error buzz is worth the premium dealers will ask.

    Only 200 were affected

Quote "around 200 pieces exist” from the mintage of 5,000 Reverse Proof piedfort (double thick) coins." Closed quote

Thank goodness I am literate! :woot:

Is this kind of like the "not frosted enough" Kennedy half in the reverse proof set this year? I got one among the three sets I ordered.
