In an icg slab I’d sure have to see it in hand

I think the buyer forgot to take into account the shipping fee. He got screwed for Standard Shipping.

I also would like to see it in hand. In a PCGS or NGC holder I'd still want to see the coin in hand. If it gets a grade of MS 66+ I'd probably jump at the chance.

I'm some what familiar with that seller.

He does not have the best reputation.

There's been rumors that he grades (over-grades) his own coins , then sells them on his own site.

I have purchased coins from this seller in the past but only minor coins for minor amounts. I do not plan to purchase from him again.

I personally would not spend that much with this seller, but then I personally would not spend THAT much for any coin with any seller.

You can google both his eBay handle and his ICG label (I believe he owns this label)
    on the net.

    That's what I did.

What is " Wayte Raymond Color " ?

As for an opinion on your coin, I can't offer one because I am neither qualified to grade this coin nor to put a value on it.

    Thanks for posting.

At that price the shipping should have been free.

When paying that much for a coin you should consider if it is worth it before you buy it.

I saw this coin. Beautiful piece. I bet @Insider remembers grading this one, if he indeed saw it come across his desk at ICG. It brought pretty strong money for an ICG coin, and honestly, if it hasn't been messed with, altered, or doctored in any way, it may very well be a 66. MS67 capped bust halves are almost non-existent. And many of them have passed thru the hands of Dale Friend, the famed bust half collector. And btw, @Hookman, "wayte raymond color" means the coin spent time in an old album produced by Wayte Raymond. Those albums had high sulfur content and often caused coins to rainbow tone.

ICG is a legitimate grading company, I'm not sure if their standards match the other, better known companies, but usually coins in their slabs trade for less than PCGS and NGC slabs with the same grade, from what i've seen. The basement slabbing company centsles runs is called NNC.

edit I meant NGC, not NCG, it's early and i'm only on my first cup of coffee

I noticed this seller is using ICG now that ebay no longer allowed him to post his own self slabbed grades (NNC). I sure would not consider an NNC graded coin now for obvious reasons.

Based on the prices on Heritage, this coin was bought a little under the price for an MS-66. That's typical of ICG and ANACS not bringing the same price as a PGCS or NGC coin.

THANKS for the correction. I try to be correct, but I'm not perfect. Like I said, it 's been a while since I bought anything from that guy.

I took a chance on a raw capped bust half recently, it looked nothing like his pics, and had been polished. It's on its way back now. I might buy slabbed coins from him in the future, but nothing raw.

It was in a NGC MS65* holder and sold at Great Collections a few months back IIRC.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

That is because 65* is the right grade for that coin. Those whispy marks may only show at the right angle, but they are grade drivers. The toning is superlative, and fully deserves a Star.

Also, who in their right mind is going to spend a premium for a coin from centsles? I don't care what flippin holder its in, you'd have to be insane to pay good money for a coin from that shyster.

Honestly, it probably would have gotten more money in the ICG holder if it was sold from a reputable dealer.

His pictures suck, which could be part of it.

Why in God’s name would anyone crack it out of a 65* and put it in an icg holder whatever the grade is beyond me. Put it back in the ngc and I’d play. Better yet get it in a pcgs slab
