    I had an oldie like that. I concluded improperly annealed or acid washed, but it was on both sides

    Possibly environmental or had been plated at one time. @paddyman98 ??

    Looks like it had a piece of tape on it for a long time.

    Something was covering that part of the Cent for a very long time.

    Definitely something on the coin. It couldn't tone as air didn't reach that spot.

    If you look on the edge at the bottom, whatever covered it looks like it wrapped around the coin because the edge is also not toned. It will be fun to speculate what happened to this coin, although we will never know.

    So I have had it some time. I didnt pull whatever may have been on it. I just looked at edges I dont see it bright like the back. Maybe if I put it outside for a while through the weather it may change?
