I pulled a 1960-D Franklin out of two purchased rolls once, and got one roll that had 19 1964 coins from both mints, and another time I got one roll that had 12 40%.... LOL...

    KEEP LOOKING!

I tried 2 boxes one time($500 total), and found 4 silver ones. I wouldn't waste time looking at all the dates, I would just look at the edges for silver. I think its a waste of time to look at all the dates, plus it's hard on your eyes.

ya, I agree. My eyes are too old to look at the dates. It was hard enough to just edge check them.

Just finished with a box of cents ($25). I pulled 5 Wheats and 8 Canadian cents, and 5 Upgrades for my Dansco. I also Got a 2008 D penny (ONLY 1, out of all those cents).

I almost feel as if I want to move onto Nickles and abandon cents, because all I need are pre 36 cents (good or better) and 60's and 70's cents in AU (have about half of them).

I wish I could trade the two wheat cent rolls I have accumulated for searching for some dates I need or silver dimes.

I got $70 rolls of halves from the Bank. I found one 1968-D.

In this bunch is the first Kennedy Half I have ever seen with real heavy true circulation wear. Not slot machine wear. it's a 1971-D clad. Interesting to say the least.

The other odd thing about them, is that there were NO 1976 coins in this bunch. Any Half searchers know that is next to impossible.

Roll searched for the first time and had "some" luck. I searched $20 (4 rolls) of dimes and $3 (6 rolls) of pennies and found a 1964 Dime and 1983 Canadian cent.

Fantastic! You bet I will. Ever think this is like playing the slot machines except you can't lose? That's why this is one addiction I don't mind having. :)

Look, as long as we're all into searching different denominations, I wonder if we could set some rough expectations, based on our experiences. I'll start. I used to search pennies pretty heavily a year or so ago. Expect a Wheat every 6 rolls. Now don't look at me if you get skunked in the first 20. In the next 20 you'll find 6 or more. Expect some Canadians, some clad, and some foreign coins, too, as you go along and get up there in volume searched. Forget about Indians. Or, rather, I heard of roll searchers finding them. But from my experience, at least, your chances are better finding one on the sidewalk.

OK, now you guys. How many rolls of nickels do I have to search before I can expect to see a Buffalo? How many rolls of dimes before I can expect to see a Mercury? How many rolls of dimes, quarters, halves before I can expect to see silver? How many rolls of halves before I can expect a Liberty? These are just examples, and maybe they're not realistic. But you, the roll-searcher in the respective denominations, you tell us what our expectations should be. Roughly, I'm saying. If possible. This isn't a test and you aren't going to flunk out of CoinTalk if you get it wrong. But given the volumes-searched we're seeing around here some of you must have realistic expectations, and I'm just saying share them, spill it, get them out, and you'll feel a whole lot better when you do (and so might some of us who may be lacking your experience). :)

    Hello everyone,

I have bought 5 boxes of pennies in the last year and really didn;t find anything worth while, few wheaties 30 or so, and about the same in canadian pennies as well, which i toss in my foreign coin box. Well the last trip i made a few months back i was given a bunch of hand rolled coins, and wasn't happy about it until i seen each roll had some sort of written on it. Si i said well if I find nothing i find nothing and left with them. Well for me it was a jack pot, the box was full of ef45 and higher coins from the 60 and up. not exactly a killing but i was pleased as punch. I still haven;t gone thru them all yet, still just happy to have them. I know there not worth a ton but i am not in this to make money anyway.

It does make me wonder though, who stored them?

Thats my only Roll searching story for now.

    Regards,
    S

    Hello everyone,

Previously I mentioned that I was finishing on the last of 5 boxes of pennies I had bought and that all had written to some degree on them. I have carded most but kept rolls of some and here is what I have in complete rolls

    1 1974
    3 1975
    4 1976
    3 1977
    3 1978
    3 1979
    2 1980

    4 rolls of 1964-1983 mixed.

I would say most of these are EF40 to AU55.

Next week I get to go get more:D:D

    Regards,
    S

Took a chance on $100 in halves for my little guy yesterday. Got them right out of the bank vault, all wrapped up nice and tight in yellow wrappers. Scored a few shiny ones, but that was about it. Afraid to try a box based on the frequencies I'm hearing. Also not looking too forward to bringing this $97.50 in rejects back to the tellers tomorrow morning.

    Just go to another bank.

    Say to the teller:
Do you have any half dollars?
    If they say "No."

Tell them: "Well, you do now!"

LOL Frank! I mean you know they're going to look at me like I'm a dog looking for a fire hydrant. But you're right, I don't care, they have an obligation to take these. I just don't think I can muster up the courage to ask them for another $100 in fresh rolls, though, at least not without seriously cracking up! :D
