Thats it, thats all I can find. No matter where I try to buy them, all I get is nasty, spotted or corroded rolls of both 1988 and 1988D Lincolns. Ive been working on a roll set of BU Memorials, it was more expensive than I thought it would ever be and it was alot harder than I ever thought it would be. I bought alot of Bank wrapped rolls and Ive had an aweful time finding all the rolls in the right condition. Some were hard to find, some were very expensive and alot of times I got the roll, opened it and realized that there was a problem and the roll wouldnt work for my set. Ive ended up with so many Spotted rolls, toned rolls and corroded rolls it isnt funny. And even worse, do you know how hard it is to find a roll of zinc cents from 1982 to 1990 that doesnt have zinc bubbling??? Those dates were the expensive dates too and now I see why. Anyhow, I just got some in the mail today and it was the last few rolls I needed to finish my set. But, I still have to upgrade two more rolls. I need both the 1988 and 1988D. The ones that came in today are the nastiest looking coins Ive pulled out of a bank wrapped roll. They have some kind of green spots growing on them and the green spots had actually glued the coins together. Not to mention they have severe roll toning everywhere but the very center of each coin. Ahh Ill be glad to finally get nice rolls of these two dates. Actually, these would be roll 10 of 1988 and roll 6 of 1988D that Ive bought and well, they were all junk. But I didnt do bad with what I got in the mail today. I got a beautiful roll of 86D and a roll of 85D that was just as nice. Im glad the 86D was a nice roll, thats one of the expensive rolls. I had a terrible time finding a roll of 86D for under $40, but I was patient and grabbed one for less than $10 and it turned out to be a flawless roll. Well, I giess Im back to my search of nice looking 1988 and 1988D rolls. Wish me luck.
Yup. Zinkers dont age well. Collectors fifty years from now will be fighting over the ones that make it through pcgs ngc or anacs and are slabbed. They are probably the only ones which will be available in pristine MS. Like another thread said........find a good 1968! I was lucky enough to find a can my fatherinlaw had kept. The newest date were a few 91's and I cherry picked the best and rolled them. 1998 I do remember was not to be found in quantity, I dont know why.
Man, I had no idea how hard it would be to do a complete roll set. I have a dealer that just puts all of his cents in rolls by dates and mintmarks, never saw what he has for zinc, but I did purchase an almost full roll of 68 S cents and 60 D cents, great looking coins for $5. Best of luck finding those rolls man! Phoenix
