so it is the same size as a US quarter. i do not know which way is right side up so that is the same side of the coin but rotated. the back of the coin is the exact same only its a mirrored image and not centered when flipped. please answer on the forum or [email address removed, per forum rules]. Not suggesting you were self-promoting as Rule 3C describes, but emails in open posts are still a no-no here. ~Moderator
Omg that’s so funny thank you. See I was comparing it to my quarter after I posted this and realized the weight was weird and made a joke about what if it’s just a token and it is!! That’s so great thanks for being so quick
OMG!!!!! Thank you SO much. That’s really funny to me, but I got this in place of a quarter for change tonight and it was just bothering me that I didn’t know what it was. You really put my mind at ease so thanks!!
You beat me to it, Willieboy. I knew it was a token (same thing both sides) and was sure it was for an arcade somewhere, but was leaning towards the Middle East, even though I have been studying Japan and China numbering and denominations. "Missed it by that much." and young Lady, hold on to it and, if you do any garage or estate sales, sooner or later you'll run into one of them thar pachinko machines and you'll be all set. BTW, you have an infectious smile. I'm infected already.
I'm a little late to this thread, but yes, that is almost definitely a Japanese Pachinko token. Being identical on both sides makes it even more likely (though they don't all follow this pattern). The characters on the token are "みどり" and read "midori" which typically means "green" in Japanese. That's also a cool thing to get in pocket change.
