    Hahahahahaahahahahhaaaaaa :joyful::facepalm::confused:
They straight graded the poster child for QC on they own webpage? Four seperate times?
    Kachorkle !!!!!

Wouldnt it suck to buy this for moon money, and then stumble acrossed it on that PCGS webpage afterwards.:dead:

Yah, that would suck! I have always wondered if, or how many counterfeit coins that PCGS has graded, but have not realized that they are counterfeit yet. There are probably very few, but personally, I would not be shocked if there were one or two.

I would say NT/MA for this coin based on the 4 TruViews shown here.

Apparently PCGS thought this was awkward too as they removed a similar thread with this Peace Dollar that was posted on their forum. :p

How do you grade something 4 times and not realize that it is your poster child for AT?

You grade it 4 times since someone's will to keep paying the grading fee.

Plus, this coin can be a poster child for population reports.

Easy, you're PCGS and "logically impossible to reconcile" is basically what you do and who you are.

Well, let’s face it, they egged themselves in the face here pretty good.

Nobody disputes that but I haven’t actually seen one person say they think the coin is AT. I think this should be next up on the slabbed AT thread.

I'm not surprised by the comments so far, but I don't see anything that would make suspect it is AT. Looks perfectly natural to me, uncommon perhaps but perfectly natural.

Watch out, when Doug and I agree, lightning usually strikes.

Btw, I think many people view this coin as NT/MA but are hesitant to put it in writing because they think they might share some egg on their own faces if they do.

PCGS basically proved your point that determining the originality of toning is a guess, but it seems as though people are willing to accept that this coin is the poster child for AT, and are embarrassed by the subsequent straight grades, despite the fact that both determinations came from the same people (PCGS).

Not I, sir. PCGS saying inconsistent things is all I ever expect to hear.

No matter if it is AT or NT, it's a fail across the board.

    AT
PCGS obviously failed several times at picking it out.

    NT
PCGS failed their own customer(s) by posting a picture of a coin that has passed several times as "Questionable". PCGS should have posted a coin they knew was AT or bought a coin they thought was questionable and used that. Don't use a coin for something like that and let it float around in public. My only thought is that the coin initially failed and they used that picture and then it passed resubmission.

I'd love to know why it was submitted so many times. **puts on tinfoil hat** Were they even the same coin? :blackalien:

Does anyone on CT avidly collect high end, toned Peace Dollars? Like, the neon, wildly toned ones, such as this? There was one guy, but i believe Lehigh scared him off. @mumu What say you?

Yes, I collected toned Peace Dollars. Completing the set was cost prohibitive and only the common dates ever had any real rainbow color. If you would like to see one that I used to own, let me know.

As for mumu, he has been pissed off at me for years because I held an opinion that the signature coin in his collection, a beautiful lavender toned Peace Dollar, was AT. That said, he’s an adult, equally as opinionated as myself, and there is no chance that I ran him off.
