How can I tell? Do they weigh the same?

A plated cent will weigh the normal weight or slightly over.

I agree, probably plated By the way, you don't need to create a poll for your questions.

if you think about it for a minute. Plating will make details less detailed, just like if you painted it. Look at the steps, look all over that cent and compare it's "sharpness" to pictures or another "perfect" cent you have set aside. It's lacking those detailed just like a plated cent lacks details.

Other than science experiments, there are 3rd party companies out there that plate all denominations silver, gold, etc. Just search for "gold plated coins" (and skip ebay and amazon) and check out the list of companies that plate coins. usually the plating is less than .003 of an inch thick, so the added weight is non-consequential.

Plating blisters, just an issue with the plating process, hope you didn’t pay more then face.
