Hey, Speedy. Is the $10 service something where they grade and authentic but don't slab? That might be the way to go for me. By the way, does your 1914-d lincoln have the die break? Onlysdad
Speedy, I think I answered my own question. Looks like the $10 service is just slower, but they still slab. I suppose one could request that they not slab (wonder it that costs extra) ? Onlysdad
Why ask them to not slab??...if you want it raw...crack it out after you get it back...but then I would leave it in the slab as I said... Call ANACS and ask how long it takes now...I know that they are able to get them back faster than 3 months now...also I think they do have a Authentication only service...but not sure how much....call them and ask...they are great to talk with! From the top rim of the top part of the nine 9 to the line going up and down on the four the distance should be the thickness of a cent on a original 1914 d. Also I have been told there is only four different die sets for a 1914 d.dont know if that is factual on a 1909svdb. there are only four knowing the die set can help in these matters
A 1914 D will be the thickness of a cent from the top loop of the nine to the straight line of the four 4 up and down if real. knowing die sets is of great help in knowing if your coins are real. what was said about the D.V.B. is true there should be none on a 1914 D tructuation and of course look at the one in 14. The man who said it is hard to believe a single die made all the 14 Ds is of course correct. I myself thought someone said one time it was four but don't take my word for that. Even that seams a little hard to believe but could be so after all age dims some of these so called facts. In a 1909 s vdb there was four die sets and 486,000 mintage. good luck in your hobby a good book on die sets could be invaluable. and as far as third party grading usually a good idea but remember even the best of these are wrong 25% of the time if not why is there cac stickers?
Um, dude. This thread was posted 13, yes, 13****** years ago. I don't think many of these members still even post, and CAC certainly wasn't in existence in '05.
