Let's march through time with Roman Imperials!

Let's do another mass-participation picture post: a trip through time using the Wildwinds chronological list of Roman rulers, expresses, and usurpers, etc., in the order they appear on the list.

To post, you may post a coin (preferably a portrait coin where possible), of the ruler in play. After one or more coins of that particular ruler have been posted, we can then move on to the next one on the list.

To post, you may:

• Post your example of the ruler presently in play, or...
• Post your example of the next ruler on the list, or...
• If it seems the next ruler on the list is impossibly rare and unlikely to be within any forum member's collection, you may post one of the Wildwinds coins or a museum example to get us unstuck and move us forward.

Be sure to check the most recent ruler posted, and either post another coin of that ruler, or of the next ruler on the Wildwinds chronological list.

Here. I'll start with Augustus.

So the next person may post a coin of Augustus or move on to Livia, who is next on the list.

After Livia, there's a short string of toughies to get through until we get to Marcus Agrippa and Tiberius, so we'll probably have to lean on Wildwinds for the next few.

The idea is to post a coin from your own collection if you can, but obviously there will be quite a few names on the list where that won't be possible for any of us, even for our heavyweight members.

 

I think it's best to keep the momentum moving forwards, to avoid confusion. And only one ruler per post, though you may post multiple coins of that ruler if you like.

But if you missed the opportunity to post a favorite, I suppose you may do that, as long you explain that you're posting out of sequence, and we then resume where we're supposed to be, with the present or next ruler in play on the list.

So right now the next person can post another Livia or move on to the next name on the list, which is Quinctilius Varus. But we all know that one's a real toughie, so we'll almost certainly have to use the picture of the lone Wildwinds example to move on.

 

Anybody have another Livia for us, before I borrow the Quinctilius Varus from Wildwinds to move us forward?

Yes! Remarkable, isn't it? I don't know the whole story, though.

 

If @Alegandron or someone else doesn't have a Varus for us, the next one on the list is another toughie: Libo, Praefect under Augustus in Spain.

In fact, I think the next three on the list are all toughies, until we get to Marcus Agrippa.

 

* Edit: I had borrowed a Varus from Wildwinds and posted it above, but then @Alegandron posted his, which ended up slightly out of sequence below, since things were moving so fast. I deleted the post with my "borrowed" Varus since we didn't need it.
